Fightwear Guide – Maximum freedom of movement on the mats and in the ring

Muay Thai and kickboxing are dynamic sports with a wide range of motion, where high kicks, knee techniques, and fast footwork are fundamental requirements. Traditional everyday sportswear cannot withstand this level of intensity and easily gets caught on the limbs. Purpose-built fightwear (Muay Thai shorts and kickboxing pants) are made with special cuts and lightweight yet tear-resistant materials to ensure full freedom of movement during training sessions and matches.

What types of fightwear can you find in this category?

Based on the regulations of the sport and personal preferences, you can choose from the following main types of fightwear:

Muay Thai Shorts: Short-cut, mid-thigh length shorts with deep side slits. The wide, elasticated waistband keeps the shorts stable, while the looser leg design allows for unrestricted roundhouse kicks and knee strikes.
Kickboxing Shorts: Featherlight shorts made of breathable material, designed specifically for mat-based disciplines (Point Fighting, Light-Contact, Kick-Light).
Long Kickboxing Pants: Straight-cut long pants with an extra gusset at the crotch and thighs. They are made of satin or polyester and are essential for long-pants kickboxing rule sets (Full-Contact).

Comparison of fightwear

Type	Material	Main features	Recommended sport
Muay Thai Short	Premium Satin or Microfiber	Short cut, wide elastic waist, deep side slits.	Muay Thai, K-1, Kick-Light
Kickboxing Short	Lightweight Polyester / Satin	Elastic waistband, breathable design, above-the-knee length.	Point Fighting, Light-Contact, Kick-Light
Long Kickboxing Pants	Shiny Satin or Microfiber fabric	Long legs, extra crotch gusset for high kicks, elastic waist.	Full-Contact, Semi-Contact, gym training

How to choose the right size?

Fightwear sizing (XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL) is primarily based on waist circumference and body height:

For Muay Thai shorts: Thai-cut shorts are traditionally made with a tighter waist and shorter legs. If you prefer a more comfortable, looser fit, it is worth choosing one size larger.
For long kickboxing pants: The leg length is the deciding factor so that the bottom hem of the pants does not get caught on the foot guard or heel during kicks.

Care and washing instructions

Washing: To protect satin and technical materials, always wash your fightwear inside out on a 30 °C gentle cycle!
Avoid fabric softener: Too much fabric softener can damage the breathability of technical fabrics.
Drying: Do not tumble dry! Satin and polyester materials dry extremely quickly in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
